Guided tours of “When the world was the radio” exhibit

Lucia @ Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze

2024 marks the 100th anniversary of radio in Italy.

On this occasion, thanks to the collaboration with the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze (National Central Library of Florence), Lucia Festival participants will have the opportunity to follow two special guided tours of the exhibition ‘When the World was Radio. A century of history in books and magazines’.

Thanks to the rich heritage of the National Library, it has been possible to reconstruct, in sixteen sections, the history of radio from its beginnings onwards, outlining processes of circularity between sound and voice and their transposition onto paper, which today represents its lasting written memory.

The exhibition presents literary, musical, photographic and technical works, revealing some of the crucial moments in the history of Italian radio, from the 1920s to the mid-1970s, in a succession of testimonies of a time when, quoting the title chosen for the initiative, ‘the world was radio’.

Admittance is free. Booking is required.
